Fugly or Fabulous? Peacock Taxidermy

I am super curious about this.  I see huge stuffed peacocks in fancy interiors from time to time (like the dining room by Celerie Kemble in the current Lonny), and I’m dying to know what people really think of them.

So, tell me what you think… fugly or fabulous???

btw… if you are on team fabulous, you can get one of your own from Plantation for the bargain price of $2395!!!  Eeek!

Peacock

*** For the record, I find taxidermy totally creepy in general.  Plus, due to my irrational bird phobia, I’d probably smp every time I walked in the room if I had a bird on display in my house.  So that being said, I’m super curious to see if I’m alone here on team fug… let me know… ***

Hairstyle Decision Time

I have a bad habit of getting bad haircuts.  Like the two times I got short “mom cuts” after my kids were born.  ICK.

The good news is that I grew my hair out and have been loving my long hair for the last couple of years.  But lately I’ve been craving a change.  Nothing extreme.  Just a new style for fall.  I’m loving long bobs shoulder length hair.  (I kept thinking that said “long boobs” every time I read it - and that is the complete opposite of what I would ever want, so I’ll go with “shoulder length hair” to avoid any confusion).  I’m also into thick bangs/fringe.  Here’s what I’m thinking:

But my hair is currently about the length of the next picture… will I be traumatized if I chop it off???

… those bangs are super awesome, but I like this length:

So… do you think I can pull it off?  Or will I regret it?  Decision time!!!

Coveting: Dwell Studio Furniture!

Dwell Studio, I love everything you do… especially the new furniture line!!!  My mother in law and I just finished going crazy with Dwell Studio fabrics in her condo (I’ll share that in another post.)  Now I’m losing my mind over the new Dwell Studio for Precedent furniture line!  Seriously…

Gorgeous console table… you would be perfect in my foyer…

Gate armoire… I don’t have a place for you in my house, but you are still super fabulous!

Sofas and coffee table… yes please!

Scandinavian-looking chair, I need you for my family room, and media cabinet, you are even better in gold!!!

Retro sunburst mirror… you would fit in perfectly above my new fireplace!

You can see the whole line here.

Inspiration File: Eclectic Mix

This home is amazing.  I always love a white backdrop with an eclectic mix of colour and pattern.

Designed by Vanessa De Vargas of LA design firm Turquoise.  Check out the rest of her portfolio here… it is all fabulous!

Have a great Monday!

African Treasures

Yesterday was an exciting day… Auntie Jodi arrived home after living in Africa for the past 8 months!
She brought back some amazing African textiles.  Here’s what she picked out for me.  I LOVE the vibrant colors and the mix of pink and red (one of my fave combos).  And I already got a compliment from a random stranger on the cute flip-flops!

Now I just have to decide what to do with my awesome fabric!  So many possibilities:  pillows, chair upholstery, window blind… hmmm…
ps… we won’t talk about the whistles that she picked out for the boys… they are thrilled with them, but let’s just say they have already been designated as ‘basement toys’ due to their eardrum-shattering pitch!!!

Lovin’ Lately…

Today I’m guest posting over at Prairie Perch:

Sarah is a fellow prairie girl and full time mom to two little cuties.  She is also a fabulous diy-er… is that a word???  Check out this project that she recently finished…

Amazing, right???  The full tutorial is here.

Head over to Prairie Perch today to see a few things that I’ve Been Lovin’ Lately!

School, Painting, and a Winner

back to school-002
Today was the first day of school for Jack, and Beckett starts tomorrow.  Everyone is quite excited and happy about it this year - huge sigh of relief!
So this is what Becks and I did today while Jack was at school:

I worked on a painted floor mat for my mom’s classroom (tutorial here).  Beckett worked on a masterpiece for our wall.  Here’s how they turned out.

So tomorrow I get a couple of hours of free time while both boys are at school.  My plans?  I’m thinking this might be in order…

OK… on to the winner of the MyMemories Software.

Congrats to my blog buddy Lisa of Lisa Goulet Design!
Lisa just purchased a fabulous custom log home… go see her blog for the full story and photos!
